Closed from 16 June until 27 July 2025 due to repair work on the path and embankment. We saw the signs with this notice yesterday, 12 June.

Very nice to look at

It's a shame, but that's probably typical for us Germans these days. We have to fight for the opening. Man, open it again. Unfortunately, I don't remember it being open anymore. It must have been very nice here once.

A true highlight in every season.

In the Richtergrotte, similar to the Gautschgrotte, a small trickle of water flows over the edge of the cliff. However, the cliff edge in the Richtergrotte is probably several metres higher. Therefore, it is very rare, if not impossible, for the two icicles to merge in winter. In any case, the grotto offers an impressive natural landscape at any time of year.

This small waterfall can be a great way to cool down in the summer.

Below the castle was the bear garden. The bears were kept in check with a considerable wall. The Schindergraben runs directly through the garden and has a beautiful wall passage. The metal grille has already oxidized away. Great to look at and nice and cool and shady. A narrow, bumpy path begins here down into the valley. Difficult to walk, especially when there is oncoming traffic.
