It's a beautiful park with lots of information for all ages. To see the animals, you should attend feedings, as these shy creatures are otherwise in hiding.

Remote, quiet, nature is left to its own devices here. Getting off your bike is definitely worth it.

In 1910, a power plant was commissioned next to the sawmill, the first in the Uelzen district after the town of Uelzen. It supplied Wieren with 220 V direct current until 1950, and the neighboring town of Drohe until 1929. Eel fishing was plentiful at the weir between the mill and sawmill.
