The memorial with the Eternal Flame was erected in 1955 by the "Regional Association of German Expellees" on what was then Reichskanzlerplatz (since 1963 Theodor-Heuss-Platz) and inaugurated by Federal President Theodor Heuss with the lighting of the flame. It is a cast stone block with an iron sacrificial bowl, in which an eternal flame was intended to burn until reunification. However, it was not removed after reunification but preserved as a memorial to the victims of flight and expulsion. The Charlottenburg I and II water towers are two former water towers located on Akazienallee and Spandauer Damm in Berlin's Westend district. The Dutch-style house standing between the towers is also part of the listed ensemble. Since the 2010s, they have served as residential buildings. Unfortunately, the extensions are poorly designed. They look creepy.
