Great art at the port of Ribnitz-Damgarten.

In the heart of Ribnitz-Damgarten's picturesque harbor promenade stands an extraordinary work of art: "The Circus Is Coming"—an impressive bronze sculpture by the renowned sculptor Jo Jastram. A Gift to the City As a long-time supporter of regional art, the Lions Club Ribnitz-Damgarten was deeply committed to establishing this important work in the city. Out of a profound connection with the artist, the desire arose to create a large-scale sculpture that would not only commemorate Jo Jastram's artistic achievements but also enrich the city's cultural landscape. These are old peat pits. Peat was once extracted here as fuel.

The Ribnitz Great Moor is a rain-fed bog, meaning it is fed solely by precipitation, which is "held" by the moss. The moss grows as a result, arches upwards, forms peat, and grows... if it is not drained. Here, too, peat was dug, and the bog was drained. Today, a worthwhile excursion trail leads through it, with information boards and benches.

This rest area is located in a particularly beautiful area. You can take a break here and enjoy nature. You'll often find yourself alone there.
