The Three Queens Palace also houses a small tourist information office.

Now we go to the castle, opposite the Cavalier House. The exhibition in the castle takes us through the history of the region, the noble families and the power struggle of the dukes. The Duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz existed from 1701 to 1918. The daughters who married into European princely and royal families were famous. Sophie Charlotte, English queen at the side of George III, Princess Louise, later wife of Friedrich Wilhelm III, the most famous queen of Prussia and Friederike Queen of Hanover. The focus then shifts to the rooms. The audience room is magnificent, we walk through the large cabinet, the alcove room and the bedroom. The cabinet of curiosities no longer exists. One floor up, the scattered flowers room, the thunderstorm room, the materials cabinet and the embroidered porcelain cabinet are impressive. The magnificent centerpiece, we stand in the ballroom. The rooms have been restored or reconstructed. Castle worth seeing, worth a visit. There is a nice café facing the lake.

Imposing building, beautiful to look at, in an exposed location. The island belonged to the Knights of St John, and later the church too. The Knights Hospitaller branch probably only had a house chapel at its disposal for the first hundred years. The church, which was dedicated to John the Baptist according to the Johanniter tradition, dates back to the first half of the 14th century. The core of the castle still consists of parts of a previous building from 1708, which was partially destroyed in the fire of 1742. The baroque ballroom dates from 1710. The current castle was built between 1749 and 1752 on behalf of Adolf Friedrich III. Built according to plans by Christoph Julius Löwe.
