Old monastery church houses a great organ museum

The Old Market Square in Malchow forms the historic center of the island town and was already a central component of the planned urban layout when the town was founded in 1235. The square's square shape indicates deliberate planning, typical of medieval town foundations. Over the centuries, the Old Market Square developed into the center of urban life, surrounded by important buildings such as the neoclassical town hall from the early 19th century and the former district court from 1881. These buildings still characterize the square today. After devastating fires in the 18th century, the Old Market Square was rebuilt along with the surrounding old town, retaining its historic character. Today, the square is not only an architectural testament to the town's history but also a lively place for events and meetings.

The Old Dairy in Malchow is a historic building that once served as a dairy and is now a listed building. Although the building is currently closed to the public, it attracts photographers and history buffs who are fascinated by abandoned industrial architecture as a so-called "lost place." The imposing brick facade and traces of past use lend the Old Dairy a special charm and make it a silent witness to the region's economic history.

On the way back, a detour to Malchow, that was the plan. It was worth it, really beautiful, especially the side of the monastery and the view of the water 😊

Lots to learn about bees along the way. The look out is a highlight.
