"East of Oberdürenbach lies the former basalt cone "Steinberg" (Steimerich), one of the three tertiary volcanoes in the Brohl valley. During the Second World War, work on the Steimerich was stopped. In a very short time, the quarry filled up with spring water. This created a lake about one hectare in size with a water depth of up to 30 m. Even during the war, the clean water was used for bathing.
