The view from this spot allows you to see two highlights at once: Directly in front of you, the water surface of the "Rodder Maar" glitters, a popular destination for hikers or walkers, and from the wooded mountain in the background rises the (rebuilt) tower of the Olbrück, also a striking landmark of this region.

Very nice place to stay

In the volcanic region around Engeln, basalt is a common, natural building material. It was used to build houses here, it was exported and was thus an important economic factor. It is therefore not surprising that the hard rock of volcanic origin was also used to build wayside crosses.
