😎According to my research (statements from older Hasselfeld residents), this is an old explosives bunker. The explosives bunker here is directly related to the extensive blasting work 💥 necessary for the construction of the Rappbode Dam. The construction of the dam, in particular the excavation work for the dam foundations, which were to be anchored 16 meters deep into the rock, as well as the construction of the underground tunnel 🚇, required the massive use of explosives to break through the hard rock bedrock of the Harz Mountains. Function of the explosives bunkers: Storage: The bunkers served to safely store the large quantities of explosive materials (such as dynamite or other explosives and detonators) needed for the rock works. Safety: Due to the high risk of explosion, these storage facilities had to be built deep in the forest, away from the actual construction site and the workers' quarters. This decentralized storage minimized the risk of disaster from accidental explosions.
