Holger Danske Statue – A Monument to Danish Legends The Holger Danske Statue in Faaborg-Midtfyn is a silent yet powerful symbol of Danish mythology. Holger Danske, also known as Ogier the Dane, is a legendary hero who, according to legend, rests in an underground sleep and awakens when Denmark is in danger. The statue commemorates this mythical guardian and lends the place a special cultural depth. It is a popular hiking highlight, embedded in several easy circular routes through Faaborg. The route from the Fåborg Museum to the Torvet market square is particularly recommended, harmoniously combining history and nature. The statue itself invites you to pause and reflect on national identity and narrative tradition.

A beautiful gable painting by Els Cools, Oliver Streich, and Bruno MacDonald on the gable of the "Director's" building on the old slaughterhouse site. The painting depicts a man watering the city's landmark, the bell tower. There are eight bell towers in total, all of different sizes and all planted in a flowerpot. Four of the small bell towers are sculptures made of cement, which were then painted in the colors of the bell tower. Originally built by King Christian IV (1588-1648) and once owned by the Danish naval hero Niels Juel (1629-97), Valdemars Slot is Denmark's largest private residence and the only privately owned royal palace. Located on the island of Tåsinge, the estate is one of Denmark's most scenic spots. The Brecht House in Svendborg was the home of the writer Bertolt Brecht, who lived here from 1933 to 1939 as a refugee from the German Nazi regime.
