The Minister for the Environment announced in December 2024 that the supply of water to the Algarve from Alqueva (Alentejo) is being studied, linking this dam to Santa Clara (Alentejo), and the latter to Bravura, in the Algarve.

The dam's reservoir has a useful capacity of 32.26 Mio. m³. The dam's hydroelectric plant produces an average of 1 GWh per year.

The Bravura Dam, located in the municipality of Lagos. was built at the end of the 1950s. The top of the dam stretches for 150 metres and is 5 metres wide.
