The Church of São Bartolomeu de Messines is a religious building, located in the parish of São Bartolomeu de Messines, in the Algarve region, in Portugal. It was classified as a property of public interest in 1955. The building was built in the period in which the Manueline style exerted influence, in the 14th and 15th centuries, although it still retains some 18th-century elements, such as the portal and the Baroque façade. Inside, you will find the only 16th-century set of twisted log columns in the Algarve, built of sandstone. Another striking element is the entrance portal to the cemetery, decorated with two Baroque volutes, also made of local sandstone. Due to the natural effect of erosion, the stoneware pieces acquired a very expressive appearance, with a very lively colour in reddish tones, and at the same time small dents and other marks on the surface of the stone. Several residential buildings next to the church also contain elements of red sandstone, in particular the frames of the openings in the facades, which gave the city centre an original appearance.

The Arade is a river in the Algarve, in the south of Portugal. The river flows through the municipalities of Silves, Lagoa and Portimão and has a length of 73 km. The river rises at 481 m altitude in the Serra do Caldeirão and flows into the Atlantic Ocean between Portimão and Ferragudo. From Moorish times until the 19th century, the river was navigable up to Silves, where an important cork port existed at the time. Nowadays, only small boats can go this far upstream, partly because two dams have been built in the river.

The Necrópolis of Carrasqueira, also known as the Necrópolis of Vale de Fuzeiros, consists of five tombs excavated in rock, dating from the High Middle Ages and attributed to the Visigothic era. The graves are oriented from northwest to southeast and are part of the Vilarinha Archaeological Circuit, which includes other important archaeological sites in the region.

The Vilarinha Alignment is a set of four menhirs in São Bartolomeu de Messines. This is Menhir 1, which measures around 2 meters in height and has decorations that were possibly added at different periods. This menhir was classified as a Monument of Municipal Interest in 2016.
