Forest is still a bit of a heavy word because it is more of a park. A nice park and fits in nicely (see comment above) with a number of other pieces of nature. Because the forest is designed (like all forests in the Netherlands) the designer had free choice in the tree species. Take a good look around because the diversity is really enormous.

The Balijhoeve is located on the former grounds of the Floriade in the Rokkeveen district. On the farm you will find the main building, the stables and meadows for cows, goats, sheep, ponies and rabbit and chicken coops and play areas for children. De Balijhoeve is a pleasant place where everyone can just walk in for a cup of coffee, tea or soft drinks, read a newspaper or have a nice chat, a living room where everyone is welcome and feels at home and where you can meet others. De Balijhoeve is an excellent base to discover nature in Zoetermeer. From the farm you can walk straight into the Balijbos. Children can play and romp in the Speelbos (located behind the farm).

At the dobbeplas there is a nature experience island for birds and nature lovers. There is also a dog park and a restaurant with terrace. There is a roller skating rink in the parking lot near the historic Windlust flour mill.
