"Oude," the old St. Jeroens Church. Nearby is the equally impressive new St. Jeroens Church. The old church is Protestant, the new one Roman Catholic.

The current white lighthouse on Koningin Wilhelmina Boulevard dates from 1923 and replaced a wooden tower from the 19th century. With six stories, 108 steps, a lighthouse height of over 33 meters, and built of brick and reinforced concrete, it is a distinctive building. From spring to the end of October, you can visit the tower independently every Sunday between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Back at Afsluitdijk with a view of the lighthouse and the sea. The lighthouse is an icon of the Noordwijk coast. The lighthouse was first lit in 1932. The tower is over 33 meters tall and is open to visitors on Sundays from April to October! The Old Jerome Church in Noordwijk-Binnen is a Gothic cruciform church, named after Saint Jerome, who was beheaded in 856. The church has a rich history dating back to the 10th century, with a tuff stone successor from the 12th century and an imposing tower built in phases to its current height of 40 meters. Thanks to pilgrimage income and interventions during the Spanish occupation, the building was preserved.

Along the route, you'll encounter a wide variety of polder windmills. These windmills were designed to pump water from low-lying areas and thus keep the land dry. The vast majority of the mills around the Kagerplassen lakes are characteristic hollow post mills with a cube-shaped upper house.
