브룩폴더(Broekpolder)에서는 멋진 산책을 즐길 수 있으며, 물론 충성스러운 네 발 달린 친구와 함께라면 더욱 즐겁습니다. 브룩폴더에서는 목줄을 맨 개는 어디든 환영받지만, 개가 자유롭게 뛰어다닐 수 있는 두 곳의 구역도 있습니다! 자유롭게 뛰어놀 수 있는 구역 이곳은 클라우터우드(Klauterwoud) 북쪽 지역과 고속도로와 WSV 칼렌부르크(Callenburgh) 항구 사이의 구역입니다. 2020년 초에 자유롭게 뛰어놀 수 있는 구역이 정비되고 개선되었습니다. 이제 반려견 소유자들은 네 발 달린 친구와 함께 브룩폴더를 걱정 없이 돌아다닐 수 있습니다. 시에서는 산책로를 높였고, 산악자전거 이용자들과 더 분리되도록 만들었습니다. 자유롭게 뛰어놀 수 있는 구역은 여기에서 찾을 수 있습니다. 반려견 놀이터 또한 브룩폴더에는 유료 반려견 놀이터가 있어 다양한 놀이 시설에서 개들이 마음껏 뛰어놀 수 있습니다. 반려견 놀이터는 개인들의 주도로 만들어졌으며, 더 자세한 정보는 www.hondenspeeltuindebroekpolder.nl에서 확인하세요.

Unfortunately the bird hide has been removed...but it remains a beautiful place for bird watching

On the beach on the east side of the Krabbeplas, a beautiful, child-friendly (water) playground has been set up, with a pump and some safe play equipment.

A memorial forest has been created behind the Jofel pavilion at the Plas, near the parking lot in Krabbepark. Here, people can plant a tree in memory of an event or person. Only the birdhouse was gone

The Krabbeplas (also called Surfplas) is a wonderful water recreation area along the A20 next to Westwijk Vlaardingen. From the Broekpolder you can reach the Krabbeplas by car and bike/foot via the A20 motorway. Only cyclists and walkers can continue to the Zuidbuurt. You can swim, surf, play and sunbathe there. You can also fish and skate around the lake. And for a nice bite to eat and a drink there is the cozy terrace of Jofel aan de Plas.

The Broekpolder was once a peat meadow polder with a number of dairy farmers. The word 'broek' (brouck) refers to the original peat bog at this location. Vlaardingen was a growing city in the 1950s and there were plans to make housing possible in the Broekpolder. To achieve this, the area first had to be raised. This was done between 1958 and 1976 with dredged material. Later, this soil layer turned out to be too polluted to be able to realize a residential area here. Housing construction was therefore off the table. The area was then given a green design. It was partly planted with production forest and for another part nature did its own work. The polder was thus given a new life as a nature and recreation area.
