Spannenburg is known for its beam connection tower, bridge over the Margriet canal and the bus station with roadside restaurant. The bridge was built in 1952, the fixed part of this bridge has a clearance height of 7.05 meters. The tower of Spannenburg was built in 1972 and is still the highest tower in Friesland at 118 meters.

A picturesque village steeped in history, it's well worth a visit, especially the museums and various artists' studios. Not to mention the excellent restaurants and the fish stall at the harbor.
