The Orca Statue in Urk is a striking artwork that symbolizes the fishing village's maritime identity. The statue depicts an orca, or killer whale, and stands as a tribute to Urk's connection to the sea and the richness of the water world. The orca symbolizes strength, collaboration, and life on and around the water. The artwork reminds both residents and visitors of Urk's maritime history, the important fishing industry, and the life that has been connected to the IJsselmeer for generations. The statue reinforces Urk's identity as a fishing community and port. The Orca Statue is freely accessible and is a popular photo opportunity for tourists and hikers. Around the statue, visitors can enjoy views of the harbor, the fishing boats, and the village itself. It is often positioned where you can experience the hustle and bustle of the harbor and the tranquility of the water simultaneously.

Oudemirdum is a charming village square, surrounded by the forests of Southwest Friesland in the green heart of Gaasterland. On the village square, you'll find cozy terraces for a bite to eat and a drink, and a visit to the Oudemirdumer Klif cliff on the IJsselmeer lake is definitely not to be missed.

The Reformed Church "De Fontein" dates from 1790 and was built on the remains of a 13th-century tuff stone predecessor. Later, in 1926, a second nave was added to the north side. As a national monument, the church stands out for its unique features, such as the cast bell, the pulpit, the baptismal font, the stained-glass window, and the organ. During the summer months, the church opens its doors on Saturday afternoons to visitors who wish to explore or enjoy a quiet conversation.

The harbor of Urk is the vibrant heart of the former island of Urk and exudes maritime history. This authentic fishing port lies on the IJsselmeer lake and is surrounded by historic buildings, charming terraces, and fishing boats that set sail daily. The aroma of freshly fried fish, the sound of seagulls, and the view of traditional cutters make this a charming place full of character. Take a stroll along the quay and sample a fresh portion of kibbeling (fried fish) or smoked eel at one of the local fish stalls. Also visit the Urk fishermen's monument and walk to the lighthouse for a magnificent view of the IJsselmeer lake – especially at sunset. In summer, botter trips are often available: a unique way to get out on the water and admire Urk from the IJsselmeer lake.
