The Hervidero Waterfall is a double waterfall on the Guadalix River, nestled in a rocky canyon and surrounded by riverside vegetation. It can be reached via a flat and easy 7 km (round trip) route starting from San Agustín del Guadalix, ideal for family hikes.

It is located in the Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range, between the municipalities of Miraflores de la Sierra and Rascafría, in the Community of Madrid. From Miraflores de la Sierra (1200m), the route ascends approximately 600m over 10km (average gradient 4–6%), and after reaching the summit, it descends 13km to Rascafría (1150m) with a gradient of 4.5–7%.

Mountain refuge near the Laguna Grande de Peñalara, with spectacular views of the surrounding area. It's worth returning from the lagoon to the reserves, passing through the refuge—the views won't disappoint.

This refuge is located in one of the most beautiful meadows in the Guadarrama mountain range, on the north side of Peñalara. It is important to maintain it and keep it in good condition.

Tired from the climb, you sit down sheltered from the wind and eat a snack. If it's not windy or cold, look toward Peñalara and make out the landscapes and lagoons. Look toward the Bola del Mundo and admire the scenery. Look toward La Cuerda Larga and explore its grandeur.

Laguna Grande de Peñalara is the largest glacial lagoon in the Sierra de Guadarrama, located at an altitude of 2,017 meters in the National Park. Origin: Glacier, formed about 40,000 years ago. Size: 5,779 m² in surface area and 4.8 m in maximum depth. Water: Crystal-clear, very pure, and cold, it remains frozen for about 4 months a year. Fauna: Home to the pygmy newt and the long-tailed salamander, and a refuge for migratory birds such as the Spanish imperial eagle and the black vulture. Flora: Surrounded by alpine vegetation. Importance: High-mountain ecosystem of great ecological value. Included in the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance. Maximum protection zone within the National Park.
