Nice place to go 1/2 hour before sunset! Lots of birds to spot, geese, but also a crane seen. Exciting boardwalk with one-way traffic.

The old garden was renovated in 2022. They did their best to renovate that garden, because a few large old trees were blown over by a heavy storm. The paths and old parts in the garden had also completely subsided, and the Veenborg itself really needed a makeover to look as beautiful as it used to. The Groninger Landschap has made great efforts to restore the old glory of the garden and the Veenborg.

The Heemtuin is beautiful in every season and worth a visit. After a walk or a tour in the garden, you can visit the Pavilion for some inner self. When the weather is nice, you can relax on our beautiful terrace with a view of the Heemtuin and the Vennen nature reserve. In bad weather you can go to the pavilion, greenhouse or hall of the Heemtuin.

Nice one-way boardwalk in 't Roegwold. Unfortunately, when I was back on the mainland, I saw a stubborn couple along the way, who walked the boardwalk against the direction of walking. The boardwalk is quite narrow. Halfway along the path is a small island with a bench.

2월 25, 2023, Birdwatching at Dannemeer, 't Roegwold
Many geese can be found at Dannemeer in 't Roegwold, especially in winter. This is not the only bird species that can be found here. Species such as grasshopper warbler, bluethroat, moustache, cowrie grouse, bearded warbler and sedge warbler breed in the swamp vegetation. If you are lucky you will see a hunting marsh harrier in the spring. The sound of the bittern is now typical for 't Roegwold.

Because the hamlet of Woudbloem existed for 100 years in 2004, this work of art was placed along the Scharmer Ae in 2005 with the icon of Woudbloem, a four-leaf clover.
