In Mitwolda, a charming village in the Dutch province of Groningen, you can experience a special encounter with semi-wild horses. Polish Konik horses have been living freely on the historic Ennemaborg estate, surrounded by an English landscape garden, since 1981. The Konik horses: Koniks are a robust, original horse breed characterized by their resilience and adaptability. From the birdwatching hut, you can see how water and land merge, and how the salt marsh is regularly flooded. Hundreds of dunlins gather on the Dollard's mudflats. Fraters, seals, and porpoises are also regularly sighted.
