The Avigliana lakes natural park is a treasure chest of biodiversity and represents a notable resource for Avigliana, both from an environmental and tourist point of view. The park is made up of three ecosystems: the two lakes, the Mareschi swamp and the moraine hills. The lakes are the only ones surviving among those formed following the last two great Pleistocene glaciations in the Susa valley. The Sacra di San Michele dominates this protected area from above, recalling that, since the year 1000, it has represented the point of reference for every person on a pilgrimage who crossed the Alps towards Rome or the Holy Land.

Part of the route around the large lake of Avigliana (approximately from the former dynamite factory continuing clockwise towards the sports fields) is forbidden for bicycles (there are signposts). I adapted by getting off my bike every time I met people on foot and nobody raised any objections, I think it is better to evaluate the crowding of tourists from time to time, for example during the week there are much fewer people.

Less crowded than Lago Grande, flanked on the road side by a recently repaved concrete cycle path, and on the rest of the perimeter immersed in the countryside, with a nice picnic area (with bar attached) at the highest point. While the Big Lake is almost urban, the Little Lake is almost wilderness. You can go around using the cycle path and several dirt roads.
