    The Avigliana lakes natural park is a treasure chest of biodiversity and represents a notable resource for Avigliana, both from an environmental and tourist point of view. The park is made up of three ecosystems: the two lakes, the Mareschi swamp and the moraine hills. The lakes are the only ones surviving among those formed following the last two great Pleistocene glaciations in the Susa valley. The Sacra di San Michele dominates this protected area from above, recalling that, since the year 1000, it has represented the point of reference for every person on a pilgrimage who crossed the Alps towards Rome or the Holy Land.

      In spite of the traffic (especially on Sunday) the two lakes of Avigliana offer beautiful suggestions also thanks to their diversity: more "worldly" and man-made is the large lake (with however many beautiful buildings that are reflected on its banks), more natural and uncontaminated the small lake, populated by water birds and partially surrounded by woods.

                    Road with little traffic that runs along Lago Grande to the west, then passes alongside the Mareschi wetland area between pleasant ups and downs. At the other end you can choose whether to return towards Avigliana for the places of Primo Levi, or go towards Sant'Ambrogio passing through the picturesque hamlet of Bertassi.
