Nice ride starting from Barrea, there's a stretch on the main road that's not exactly pleasant due to the speeding cars, but it's worth doing in the context.

Beautiful country.. great for photographs... fascinating view of the lake... and very friendly inhabitants... one above all the legendary Garibaldi of the Giro d'Italia...

Small village on the shores of Lake Barrea, in the Abruzzo National Park, it is immersed in a suggestive natural environment.

The dark bust of the Mother of God holding the baby Jesus in her arms does not stand out much from the gray rock of the surrounding area, so one or two hikers will certainly have passed by without noticing it. This small sacred monument was obviously donated to thank the Madonna; an inscription next to the figure gives the date of September 2, 1940.

Inside the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, surrounded by mountains, there is Lake Barrea which overlooks the three villages: Villetta Barrea, Barrea and Civitella Alfedena.

Villetta Barrea is located on the Sangro river in the shadow of Mount Mattone and it is not uncommon for you to come across splendid specimens of deer in its streets. The town was built around the 13th century castle. There are two museums to visit, the transhumance museum and the water museum.
