Swanpool is an important inland brackish nature reserve. There is a wide variety of wildlife here, including the Trembling Sea Mat, which is found nowhere else in the UK. It's a good place for a quick break on a ride, the road goes along the eastern edge of the lake.

Glendurgan Garden is a subtropical garden and wooded valley leading to the Helford River. The garden is full of native and exotic plants, which thrive in the mild climate and sheltered position. The cherry laurel maze is a great place for kids and adults. The gardens are now owned by the National Trust. Facilities include parking, a tearoom, toilets and a book shop.

For those interested in history and technology, there is the Marconi Center about 300 meters above. From a radio station located there, Marconi succeeded in 1901 in establishing the first radio connection to Newfoundland.
