Since the lighthouse is associated with the literary work of Virginia Woolf: Tilman Spengler is the man on German television who brings great authors and their works closer to culturally interested viewers. His series "Classics of World Literature" pays tribute to writers from all eras with a 15-minute episode (in German). One of these writers is Virginia Woolf (1882–1941). Land's End is mainland Britain’s most south-westerly point and an iconic one at that. Over the years it has entrenched itself as one of the country’s most famous landmarks. For us, a team of six cyclists, it was the start of a journey that would take us through the entire length of this great country of ours to get to John O'Groats, the most northernmost point. This we did, raising over £10,000 on the way for Brecon Mountain Rescue Team. A great adventure that all started from here.

A very lovely view can be had from here of St Michael's Mount. Accessible during mid to low tide, it is a beautiful place to visit via its granite causeway. Go and see this iconic rocky island crowned by a medieval church and castle. One of the 43 unbridged islands in the UK that is accessible by foot.

If asked where a famous island was dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel, most people would probably answer the internationally renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site of Mont Saint-Michel in France, located off the coast of the English Channel on the border between Normandy and Brittany. But even here in southwest England – beyond the European mainland, off the British Isles – a "St. Michael's Mount" can be found.

This wide open road provides exceptional views of the stunning Cornish coastline. The road travels along the entire Cornwall National Landscape and is highly regarded by cyclists as an excellent place to ride.

Tredrea Lane is a quiet, undulating and beautiful road between St Erth and Gwallon in southern Cornwall. It's a lovely place to ride, and hopefully the caravans will stick to the A30 which runs roughly parallel. This is part of the National Cycle Network long distance route 3 which connects Bristol and Land's End.
