The Ballenberg Open Air Museum is a unique experience that you definitely shouldn't miss. Integrated into the beautiful Bernese Oberland mountains, this gem offers an emotionally scientific cross-section of historical buildings and professions from a long-gone Switzerland. With great attention to detail, Swiss knowledge is imparted here in the open air in a simple and often playful way. In every subject area you can look over the shoulders of experts at their craft and sometimes even lend a hand yourself. Good weather is a basic requirement for a visit to Ballenberg. If you want to see everything, you definitely have to allow for a day. In two hours, you only scratch a fraction. The open-air museum can be entered from the east and west. There are spacious, free parking spaces available for private traffic. (As of 2023) Kids can not only let off steam in one or two playgrounds, but also marvel at one or two farm animals up close. Within the almost huge complex, visitors have access to various shops with locally produced handicrafts (including drugstore items!) as well as restaurants with a wide range of offerings. Danger! Most, but not all, paths are stroller or wheelchair accessible! Anyone who wants to find their way around the museum not only has a well-structured map of the site, but also a digital guide via cell phone. In general, the Ballenberg open-air museum is very well positioned digitally. There are QR codes everywhere that convey knowledge and useful information. Absolutely recommended visit!!!
