As you hike along the shores of the Großer Plönitzer See, there are always wonderful views across the lake.

The old trees that flanked the root sections fell victim to the saw this year – before the ravages of time could take them down. It looks a bit bleak, but it's still fun, of course. (The fat stumps could maybe be used as a drop sometime 🤔😇)

It is located in Holstein Switzerland, surrounded by a hilly moraine landscape. To the north lies the Little Pönitzer Lake, into which it drains via a ditch. The lake is circular in shape with a bay to the north and is approximately 1,400 meters long and 1,100 meters wide. It covers approximately 108 hectares and has a maximum depth of 19.2 meters, which it reaches in its center. The lake is fed by relatively minor tributaries. Garkau Estate lies on its southwestern shore.
