A fascinating aqueduct which carries the Canal du Midi over the River Orb. The canal was drained at this part in February 2025 to enable work to be carried out on the nearby ecluse/lock.

On my tour I crossed many canals and rivers in the area. The Canal du Midi is beautifully situated and is frequented by many ships. Here it crosses the river Orb

The Béziers Canal Bridge is a trough bridge that carries the Canal du Midi across the River Orb in Béziers. The trough bridge itself is 143.4 m long, 15 m wide and around 12 m high. It is framed at both ends by abutments that are 27.4 m long and about 31.5 m wide.

In this area, too, some of the plane trees have already been felled and burned. The plane tree death caused by a fungus infestation is inevitably advancing northwards. On my tour in September 2021, I was partially diverted from the Canal du Midi because there was tree felling work. The felled trees are burned on the spot. A very sad sight, as it was the plane trees that made up the character of the Canal du Midi.
