The village of Boksee, with 460 inhabitants, was first mentioned in 1378 as Buckze. The name likely means "beech lake," a connection still reflected in the three golden beech leaves on the village's coat of arms. The village lies in the Barkauer Land region of the Plön district, in the northern part of the East Holstein Hills and Lakes region. The Schleswig-Holstein branch of the ADAC (German Automobile Club) maintains a driver training area here.

It has now completely grown over.

In this forest, the path touches the Speckenhorner Bach stream. It's not very impressive, but it's lively. Further along, the stream is called Schlüsbek, which flows into the Wellsee, then the Schwentine, and then the Kiel Fjord. This is the source of the Schlüsbek stream.

Where the school once stood, there is now a small residential area on the village street. There is a bus stop with a shelter here.

The chestnut avenue, which runs past the Old Boksee Manor, is just under 200 meters long. It consists of only 14 mature chestnut trees.

The two-tiered water flow under this bridge shows how much the water level has been lowered over the past two centuries.

There is a carpooling bench at the Kleinbarkau bus stop. There are also two memorial stones on the small green area: They commemorate the soldiers who fell in World War I and the peace of 1871.

The patron is involved in the Kirchbarkau market meeting place. A bench in the shade eke out an existence.
