This bunker is one of several in Bettlach. Like the others, it can be viewed inside. Since it's pitch black, a flashlight is recommended. There's also a bunker trail that takes you to two more bunkers in the forest.

The Bettlach casemate bears witness to the presence of the Maginot Line at this location. Designed to protect France from German invasion during the Second World War, it has two 75 mm cannons.

Depending on the time of year, the access road from above is quite overgrown. The trail/path is barely visible, but suddenly one of those typical Alsatian narrow-gauge bridges appears, which takes you across the stream dry. After the bridge there is a short single trail section through the forest.

Mushroom originating in a white "egg" partially emerging from the ground, when ripe the outer layer tears and releases 3 to 8 arms, first connected to each other by their top, then separating, the fungus then takes the appearance of a starfish. Not edible with strong cadaver odor.

The paths here are very confusing, all natural and of course no signs. This hut is at the center of some nice flowing paths. Include it in your plans if you wantto getto know the area in detail

Nice woodland trail to St Brice. This is a greatpath.. the main danger is the mud, which their is a lot of. Unfortunately no down hill stretches, but the mud will certainly keep the heart rate up. If you want an extremely technical short uphill, then at the end of this part turn left.If you want to keep your dignity.. turn right
