It could be a circular hike, but the path is very overgrown on the western side... Beautiful bays everywhere, despite the swimming ban 🐾

The Niffer Lock is an impressive lock on the Rhône-Rhine Canal created by the Franco-Swiss architect Le Corbusier. It allows you to cross the canal and continue on the EuroVelo 6 route between the Atlantic and the Black Sea.

Even though the cycling path is not paved, the very hard-packed surface is also very good for road cycling.

After crossing the Passerelle de Niffer, you can cycle on the left side of the Canal du Rhone au Rhine on a good cycle path to Mulhouse. Highly recommended.

The Kembs-Niffer lock, also called the "Le Corbusier" lock, was built in 1961 and is located a few hundred meters from the "big lock", built much later, in 1995.

Just did it last weekend: from Basel via Huningue (bicycle passage along the Rhine past the Novartis campus) and then wonderfully along the Rhin - Rhone canal to Mulhouse, beautiful nature and over 30 km (easy) without cars! It's just a shame that you can't swim in the canal!
