A very nice road for cycling and only moderate traffic. It's busy at the top, even in summer. They want to offer families entertainment and exercise. Not my style at all—but the people in the valleys can earn their living from it.

Beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding mountain scenery. Some of the roads are newly paved, so the ride up and down is fun.

The pass is 1,989 m high and runs along a paved track between Beaufortain and Val Montjoie. The landscape is dominated by the Aguille Croche peak, where hiking trails lead to its northern summit, where the Alpine glaciers are located. From the summit you can also see the Aravis mountain range or the Girotte dam. In this sense, it is a very popular pass for mountain bike routes.

https://youtu.be/eu_RPR989TI The view gives you the feeling of being at the highest point above all the surrounding mountains. View hundreds of kilometers over all the peaks. Relatively easy to push up from Les Chapieux, which is already at 1700m. From Trento it is very, very steep and can be reached over blocked, stony scree with a lot of climbing.

The Col du Bonhomme is located in the south-east of Haute-Savoie and entirely within the municipal territory of Contamines-Montjoie, the administrative limit with Beaufort passes on the side of the pass, about one kilometer further south than the line peak1. It constitutes a relatively easy natural passage between the Bonhomme rock and the Pennaz needles, thus making it possible to communicate the Montjoie valley to the north with the Beaufortain to the southwest1: the two sections of the old national road 202 interrupted between the Chapieux to the south and Notre-Dame-de-la-Gorge to the north were to be connected via the Col du Bonhomme before the project was abandoned. The Col du Bonhomme is known for its singular Sandstones, a predominantly siliciclastic sedimentary system discovered by de Saussure in 17792, and whose origin is enigmatic3.

The trail begins in the village of Les Contamines-Montjoie and climbs to a pass at an elevation of 2,962 meters (9,716 feet). The hike takes about 5 hours to complete, and it is important to be well-prepared for the altitude and the physical demands of the trail. The Col de la Seigne marks the border between France and Italy. Upon arrival at the pass, a wonderful scene unfolds before you: the southern slope of Mont Blanc dominates the Val Veny, the first of the Italian valleys that extends below. Since the time of Ancient Rome, and especially in the Middle Ages, this passage between the Valle d'Aosta and Savoy has been used extensively. The Tour du Mont Blanc also passes through here, a legendary hike first developed at the end of the 19th century. It is considered one of the points with the most spectacular views.
