Beautiful little village in the middle of Morvan

In front of this village church, there is a rather original little fountain. Excellent spot for a little break.

Bernard Loiseau, renowned Michelin-starred chef, died on February 24, 2003 in Saulieu, is a French chef and restaurateur of the gourmet restaurant Relais Bernard Loiseau, in Saulieu.

At this crossroads straight ahead you will see the Château de Lacour, on the left the Church of the Saints-Innocents. The castle is also a wine estate, specializing in red wine.

High place of gastronomy, Saulieu is located in the heart of Burgundy. Surrounded by unspoiled and preserved nature, it has many historical monuments, an ideal geographical location and an authentic way of life.

A charming little town, right on the edge of the Morvan nature reserve. It is advisable to start exploring the city at the tourist information. A polar bear leads through the village (pay attention to the markings on the way) past all interesting sights. A corresponding (French/English) flyer can be obtained from the tourist information.

The Saint-Andoche church was built in the 12th century and houses the tomb of Saint Andochius. In 1919 the church received from Pope Benedict XV. awarded the title of minor basilica. A very interesting church with 50 capitals, ancient paintings, glass ornaments and sculpture. If you hike the polar bear trail in Saulieu, you will inevitably pass the Saint-Andoche church.
