In the restaurant, which is also a tourist office, you can borrow a walkman, which will give you a tour of the village. A walk of about 3/4 hour. Borrowing the walkman was free in 2024. You can set the language to Dutch.

This village is listed among the "most beautiful villages in France", but the local star is the church, hidden at the back of the square. Fortified, it only reveals its charms to the most daring. To see it up close, you have to do some strange gymnastics. The neighboring houses, made of red brick, topped with slate, seem to form a continuous enclosure. An integral part of the village's interpretation circuit, open all year round, the church has been specially equipped for visits and offers you the possibility of going upstairs to discover its guard room-refuge!

Parfondeval is a village located in the commune of Archon, France. It is one of the most beautiful villages in France and invites you to walk in authentic rural France, in a beautiful natural environment. The village has a pond in the village square, red brick houses with slate roofs typical of the region, a wash house, a Protestant church and more. The church of Saint-Médard is a weather church in the typical style of the region and is the only church with a decor that tells the history of the weather churches.

The village has beautiful houses and old barns built of wood and cob. Archon has a private and restored castle, the Château d'Ogny, a 16th/17th century building with a square dwelling flanked by two towers at opposite angles, a square portal, two square towers. The old Ogny mill has become a farm. The Saint-Martin church is fortified. The facade is protected by two round towers on each side of the door and connected by a gateway, loopholes and bretèche. Signy-l'abbeye is a pleasant town with two hotels and, for the region, quite a few amenities, an ATM and a small supermarket. There is a large (walking) forest to the west and you will also find a campsite there. The church was built in 1900 on the site of a 16th century shrine. There was a Cistercian abbey here between 1135 and 1793.

Vigneux-Hocquet is dominated by the Saint-Martin church, this imposing martial-looking building protected the population during the 16th century. It has now found a renovated interior and allows the visitor to meditate, imagining the disorders of past centuries. The Tree of Jesse - in the form of a carved beam or "Beam of Glory" - is very rare in France! Restored, it shines and is worth a detour! (https://www.tourisme-thierache.fr)

Parfondeval is said to be one of the most beautiful villages of France. That might be an exaggeration, but its really lovely and has an exemplary "Eglise fortifiée" that can be visited and if you are lucky there will be some guides that give you a free guide tour. In the tourist infromation close by you can also lend a guided tour for the village.
