Beautiful, shady location at the confluence of the Almersbach and Wied, bench nearby. People have been making pilgrimages here since the 13th century through a ford. The beautifully situated Almersbach church with late Romanesque origins stands enthroned above.

The Privileged Pharmacy, built in 1730, is located in the pedestrian zone. It is well preserved and an eye-catcher. The first pharmacy was founded in Altenkirchen in 1699 and has stood in the same place ever since.

In the western part of Alhausen on the loop of the Great Nister, the altitude increases from 170 m to 290 m in a short distance. This rise is formed by the Sonnenberg, which offers a view of the Nister valley, the Kroppacher Schweiz and the entire hilly landscape towards Gebhardshain and Bad Marienberg.
