Beautiful little place with public drinking water, church, town hall, church and sculptures

After a fairly steep climb, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Laurac and the surrounding green hills.

Pretty little belvedere overlooking the town of Mirepoix. There is an orientation table which details the panorama. A little upstream there is also a beautiful and old cross.

Perched on its rocky promontory at an altitude of 360 meters, Fanjeaux dominates the Lauragais meadow. The medieval city has been occupied since the Gallo-Roman era before becoming a powerful castle village in the 12th century. Its old neighborhoods bear witness to its rich historical heritage.

Beautiful landscapes, very different surfaces. Forest roads, asphalt, concrete and grit. The latter rides very modestly uphill. With a few exceptions, everything on an old railway line. There are a few rest areas directly on the Bahntrassenradweg, but no drinking water fountains.

Fanjeaux, medieval city. A medieval village clinging to a rocky outcrop, a historic center of Lauragais, Fanjeaux retains traces of its rich past: in the 13th century, Fanjeaux was at the center of preaching against the Cathar heresy. Dominique de Guzman (Saint Dominic), installed in Fanjeaux from 1206 to 1215, tried by his preaching to bring back to the Roman Catholic Church, the local nobility acquired from the Cathar Church.

This magnificent fountain with a carved stone arch at the entrance and entirely in stone inside is located under the Château de Terride on the north/west side. I know that in this sector there is the fountain of the Cordeliers I do not know if it is that there. After research on the internet it is indeed the CORDELIERS fountain.
