A beautiful hike, very challenging due to its elevation gain and length. Bring a GPS + IGN map with compass, and about 3 liters of water. Hike completed in September 2025, measurements taken with a GPS and Garmin watch: distance 22 km, duration 5h08, elevation gain +720m, elevation gain -720m. This hike is recommended for very experienced and well-equipped hikers.

This small Corsican village is nestled in the heart of the Taravo valley. Also located on the GR 20 route, it benefits from its proximity to the Cérotte forest. You will find a grocery store on its main square.

The Vaccia pass culminates at 1,191 meters above sea level. It thus connects Zicavo in Taravo to Aullène in Alta Rocca and offers a very beautiful view at its summit. A farm inn is located at the pass and allows you to eat.

Cozzano is a small Corsican village nestled in the hollow of the valley. Located in the center of the island, it is also on the route of the Mare a Mare center and under the ridge line taken by the GR 20.

Hike made on July 25. Climb to the super waterfall. Then crossing the river without using the suspension bridge, in too bad condition. Going down the path stops before the campsite we find ourselves stuck by pig pens. It is necessary to climb a barrier where the arrow indicates it (orange-pink outline) then then to go up towards the right and to cross another portal. We then find ourselves on a path that bypasses the enclosures and allows us to rejoin the route. End of the journey made by the road, pretty and not very busy.

On this pleasant road which benefits from a protective shade in many places, it is not uncommon to make incongruous encounters with semi-domesticated animals such as goats, black pigs and sometimes even cows. The landscapes are really striking, and the forest magnificent.
