Magnificent oak (Quercus petraea) in the Forest of St-Gobain at 700m NE of the old abbey in Saint-Nicolas-aux-Bois. This tree is called "Oak of the three girls". The girth of the tree, measured at a height of 1.50 m, is 4.66 m for a total height of around 33 m.

A wash house is a basin supplied with water generally of natural origin, the primary purpose of which is to allow laundry to be rinsed after washing it. It is most often public, free or paid depending on the municipality, but can be private, attached to a single house or a single farm and can be made available to neighbors for a fee. Contrary to a very widespread representation, the washerwomen did not go there most often to wash the linen, but to rinse it there. Going to the washhouse was indeed the last step before drying.
