After the big climb to get to this village, we were very happy to find a public drinking fountain to fill up our water bottles!

A very clean town and well-designed areas.

This monastery has something to offer, I even attended the service which was in German.

The two German and late Romanesque components of the place name suggest that this is a monastery at the crossroads. And indeed, even after 1,400 years, Disentis Monastery remains an important architectural highlight in Graubünden. The town remains popular for hiking today, as with a total length of around 180 kilometers, there are a variety of hiking trails around the town for all tastes, from leisurely hikes to challenging ones.

In the Surselva region, the Vorderrhein is called Rein Anteriur. It's beautiful under both names. At this bend, you'll have a wonderful view of the merrily babbling river, which is worth a short break.

Wonderful Alpine view along the valley of the the Vorderrhein, or Anterior Rhine. The majestic peak of the Piz Run rises above you from the opposite side of the river.

This trail leading to Via Sut Gassa offers a delightful hike through picturesque landscapes, combining rich natural beauty with a touch of Swiss tradition. You'll pass through lush forests and meadows, with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The trail is dotted with charming Alpine houses and traditional stone structures, including rustic stone walls flanking the path.
