This spot was awarded two stars by the Regional Landscape Kempen and Maasland. The beautiful scenery of this pond not only attracts hikers and nature lovers, water birds also seek temporary or permanent refuge in this water feature. Grey heron or great white egret wade through the pond, a kingfisher in flight, osprey and cormorant in the tops of some tall trees, duck species floating on the water... let yourself be surprised by what can be seen on the water today.

This natural-looking pond was once constructed for hunting waterfowl. In 1985, the Flemish Government established a fish farm and the pond was used to combat the decline of various fish species in other waters. The pond has not been fished since 2003, allowing this place to develop into a fully-fledged ecosystem where plants and animals feel at home.
