Do you still know the nursery rhyme: "The mill rattles on the rustling belly"?
The mill only rattles on mill days and on special occasions, and the Aabeek (a.k.a. Aabach) doesn't really rustle either. But a loud "aaah!" (as in Aabeek) is certainly appropriate given the good condition of this mill from 1515.

Petrus Luys was the first miller on this water mill (hence the name), which was in operation until 1965. Originally, no grain was milled into flour, but the fibers used to make fabrics were milled in a so-called fulling mill. From the 19th century it served as a flour mill.

The watermill is open every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., also on mill days.

An information center for Kempen-Broek is located next to the mill and is open from Tuesday to Sunday. You can also get a coffee or a snack here.

The Luysmolen is actually a small site consisting of the mill itself (a watermill more specifically called the Voorste Luysmolen, there was indeed once a second one, the Achterste) and some buildings including of course the miller's house and mill house. The whole serves partly as a reception center, nature education center, catering facility, recreational complex with a focus on peace and nature (lots to see outside!) and partly as a holiday home. The inn seems to serve very tasty dishes and cake, the area with the Abeek, nature and heritage is undoubtedly beautiful. It's just a shame that it hasn't been made car-free (yet?).

De Luysmolen is located in the middle of a large contiguous nature reserve. This cross-border area is called "Kempen~Broek". It is a very beautiful region with fascinating nature, charming landscapes, interspersed with cultural elements and many recreational opportunities. De Luysmolen also functions as the gateway to the Kempen-Broek border park and therefore plays an important role in informing the population and tourists about this nature reserve..."
