The Willemdok is located in North Antwerp, next to the older Bonapartedok.
The Willemdok was designed and constructed in 1803-1812 pursuant to a decree of 26 July 1803 by Napoleon Bonaparte and came into use in 1813 as "le grand bassin".
Like the Bonaparte dock ("le petit basin"), it was designed by Nicolas Mengin.
In 1815 the King of the Netherlands donated it to the City of Antwerp.
The Willemdok is exclusively used for pleasure craft and yachts.

In one of the oldest Antwerp port areas you will find one of Europe's hippest neighbourhoods: 'het Eilandje'. And right in the middle of that neighborhood is the Willemdok. Warehouses filled to the brim with restaurants, loft homes and history gather around the dock, the beating heart of this artistic epicenter. The renowned MAS and the Red Star Line museum will become your immediate neighbours. And the city? It's at your feet.
