Lange Wapper is often represented as tall and thin. In comics and cartoons, his beardless chin is often very accentuated.

The tormentor appears at night and chases the drunks. At first as a small man, but he can make himself bigger and bigger until he rises above the houses. When the drunkard comes home, panting and sweating, Wapper looks in through the window.

Sometimes he disguises himself as a small child in order to drink breast milk. When a mother takes this child to take care of and put it in a crib, Lange Wapper lets himself grow so big that he no longer fits in the room.
