Well this is the plan anyway - an 18 day 3,000km drive with three countries, three capitals and three high points thrown in. Let’s see how we get on!🧐🧐🧐

Day 1 - Charming UNESCO rated Riga old town complete with a farmers market built out of old Zeppelin hangars, gold gilded orthodox churches, freedom monuments, quaint cobbled streets with quainter cafes along with lush lakes and parks. All in all a very lovely first day ❤️.

The Bridge of Love was to me one of the highlights of the first day. Beautiful location.

Beyond the Horizon

A walk along the canal in Riga is a little escape from the city life. On the route I discovered there is a cascade that trickles over small waterfalls - a wonderfully calming sight. The surrounding trees provide shade and if you're lucky you might spot a few pigeons perching nearby.

What makes the route special are the small bridges dotted with padlocks. It's one of those love lock bridges that can be found all over the world, yet it feels extra special in Riga. Across the canal and surrounded by greenery, there's something magical about this place. It's almost as if you can step away from the hustle and bustle of the city for a moment. The bridge is flanked by classic lanterns that give the whole thing a nostalgic touch.
