Discover the oldest narrow-gauge railway on the Baltic coast between Kühlungsborn and Bad Doberan. Since 1886, the Molli, with its rare 900 mm gauge, has been a familiar sight in the towns and villages. This charming railway runs 365 days a year, right through the heart of Bad Doberan's main shopping street, past the charming seaside town of Heiligendamm, and on to Kühlungsborn, Germany's largest Baltic Sea resort.

The market square in Bad Doberan is one of the oldest urban centers in the city and was planned and laid out under Grand Duke Friedrich Franz I. It is considered a central historical square that served not only as a trading center but also as a representative site for the city's development. It was designed in the neoclassical style by the important architect Carl Theodor Severin, who also played a key role in the development of the summer residence in Heiligendamm.

Beautiful how it winds through the streets

We really enjoyed the city museum. It's a must-see! 😉 The courtyard features bathing machines, which I hadn't seen before. There's no entrance fee. All in all, it's highly recommended.

The Molli connects Bad Doberan and the Baltic Sea resort of Kühlungsborn. In high season and on other selected dates, two trains run every hour during the day, crossing in Heiligendamm shortly before the hour.
