It's great that this station exists. You can also look at the enclosures from a distance.

There were already several piers before that, but they were mostly destroyed by storm surges or heavy ice. The owner of the first hotel ("Anastasia") in Graal-Müritz built a jetty in 1882 to offer his guests steamer connections to Warnemünde. A year later, in November 1883, the bridge was destroyed by a storm surge, as was the bridge that had subsequently been rebuilt. It was so badly damaged in the winter of 1890/1891 that it too had to be demolished. In 1905, a 320-meter-long jetty was financed by a private individual near the Stromgraben.

Very nice route along the coast

Be careful of the seagulls, they are cheeky and will take the bread roll directly from your hand, you can't even look and react that quickly 😉

Attention: If you have thin tires mounted on your bike, you should be careful here.

First we saw the old ship and wondered why they let it rot there...then we read that it is the research station 😂

You can watch the seals doing their scientific work or go into the water to see them, although there are long waiting lists, at least in high season.
