ヴァイラーホーフ（Riedstadtの北東）にある砂利採取場での水泳は固く禁じられています。約21ヘクタールの敷地は、活発な砂利採取が行われており、希少な水生植物を保護する、保護されたNatura 2000の動植物生息地です。

ヴァイラーホーフは、ヘルムシュタットとライヒャーツハウゼンの間に位置するラインムート家のもので、元々は牛、豚、耕作のある伝統的な農場でした。今日、家族は周辺の畑でトウモロコシ、小麦、菜種、テンサイを栽培しており、1978年以来、一日ひよこを適切に育てることに特化しています。七面鳥は広々とした開放的な鶏舎で育ち、穀物、豆類、ミネラル、ビタミンからなる純粋なベジタリアン飼料を与えられています。

柳で籠を編む技術に精通した職人は、ごくわずかしか残っていません。

Johann Gottfried Tulla said of his Rhine straightening project between 1817 and 1885, "As a rule, in cultivated countries, streams, rivers, and waterways should be canals, and the management of waterways should be under the control of the inhabitants." Today, we are aware of the enormous damage this caused to nature, damage that persists to this day. Nevertheless, in the current discussions about climate and nature conservation, one gets the feeling that humanity has learned nothing. Therefore, this nature reserve is a must-see.
