The Mitter Hut is located about 50m below the saddle and offers a beautiful view towards the east/Glashütte. The hut is not open but you can have a nice rest there in the off-season/winter because it has a wind-protected veranda.

The Mitterhütte is open during the grazing season from June to the end of September. There is no day off during this time. However, it may be that the Almerin is busy with work in the field or other tasks and is therefore not present for a short time. And there are many such tasks to be done in the hut and on the grounds. There is the usual food in the huts, i.e. bacon, sausage and cheese sandwiches, as well as the usual drinks, including milk from the farm's own sheep and goats. The Geierstein is one of the most worthwhile destinations in the area. From Lenggries, the (now well-marked) trail 611 leads to the summit. In the lower part, it goes through the forest, then there are beautiful views of the Isar valley, and at the top it becomes rockier. In summer, numerous butterflies can be found in the summit area. The crossing, including the Fockenstein and the Aueralm (no matter which direction) is a classic.

A little hidden, but all the more worthwhile! Great view towards the south, Brauneck almost within reach and the Zugspitze in the background. According to legend, a young man was playing the violin up there when he was attacked by a vulture and fell down. As a result, the mountain is known as both Geierstein and Geigerstein ;-)
