A quiet, peaceful walk with lots of wildlife around the lake.

This lake is located in the heart of the Maiden Erlegh Nature Reserve. There is a path that allows you to walk around the lake while enjoying its tranquility and diverse wildlife, with birds and butterflies being notable highlights.

This Reading Room in Arborfield was opened in the late 19th century and, besides being a library and a place of study, sometimes served as a concert hall. It is currently a private residence.

Although from 1863, we can consider this as Arborfield's new church, as the old one was located in a different place. Some materials from the old church were used in the construction of this new one, leaving only its ruins."

Palmer Park is a hub of activity being home to a velodrome, athletics track, a big children's playground, bowling club and sports pitches. It is lined with avenues of trees and there is even a cafe.

To the north east is Shinfield Studios, a new Film & TV production studio. A Star Wars spin off was being filmed there in 2022/23, but it is not without controversy. Many local people objected to the huge building which was once farmland.

The Reading Room was built as part of Arborfield Hall by the owner, Mrs Hargreaves to commemorate the life of her son, Arthur Hargreaves. Opened in 1881, it was used as a library, study room and concert space. It is now a private home.

Arborfield Church, St Bartholomew's makes a great place to pause on a hike. There are benches in the churchyard which feels like you are right in the countryside, rather than a stones throw from Reading.
