In addition to the summit cross, there is also the Schwarzenberg monument on the Plattenkogel. It stands there in honor of the Salzburg archbishop and cardinal Prince Friedrich Schwarzenberg, who visited this place in 1838. On his journey from Krimml over the Gerlos Pass to Gerlos, he did not miss the opportunity to fully enjoy the special view of the Upper Pinzgau viewing mountain. To this day, the "Bishop on the Plattenkogel", a monument in the summit area, not far from the summit cross, commemorates this important visit. In 1933, the summit of the Plattenkogel was declared a natural monument, making it one of the oldest protected objects in the state of Salzburg.
